HEAD HOUSEKEEPER

Location: Comox Valley / Mount Washington Alpine Resort, Vancouver Island, BC, CANADA
Job Type: Full-Time Seasonal – December to Mid-April
Reports To: Property Manager / Owner
Staff Accommodation: Subsidized, not free; in Courtenay. Available from November 15 to April 30 with possible extension to May 31

About the Role

As Head Housekeeper, you’re the backbone of our guest experience and the efficiency coordinator internally. You’ll take ownership of the cleanliness and presentation of our properties, ensuring every unit meets our high standards before guests arrive. You will also have a good understanding of the financials to the extent that you are keeping tabs on workers efficiency and proper documentation when things run long, and you are planning linen deliveries and work such that you are sending the work vehicle to the resort on a schedule that minimizes costs. This role blends hands-on cleaning with leadership and coordination—you’ll be both executing and overseeing daily operations. You’ll work closely with the property manager to manage schedules, be part of training new cleaners, oversee billables from cleaners and maintenance staff, and liaise with owners of the units we manage. Troubleshooting is your middle name! If you love creating order, take pride in a job well done, and enjoy working independently, this role is for you.

The ideal candidate has a friend or partner interested in the All-Rounder position and shares the 2-bedroom staff accommodation as they will work closely together and mostly on the same schedule.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $22 – $26/hour

Responsibilities

As Head Housekeeper, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, presentation, and readiness of all guest units. Your duties include:

  • Leading and training a small team of in-house housekeepers, an all-rounder, and a laundry attendant; and overseeing a couple of contract cleaners

  • Performing and supervising monthly cleans, deep cleans, and turnovers

  • Inspecting units post-clean to ensure quality standards

  • Managing linen inventory and coordinating laundry schedules

  • Reporting maintenance issues or guest-related damage and liaising with the All-Rounder

  • Ensuring eco-friendly and pet-friendly cleaning protocols are followed

  • Communicating with the property manager about scheduling and supply needs

  • Maintaining a cleaning checklist and photo documentation for each turnover

  • Assisting with onboarding new cleaners and updating procedures as needed

  • Relief guest services occasionally.

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous housekeeping experience (2+ years preferred)

  • Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and time management

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Comfortable using mobile apps or checklists for task tracking

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable with winter driving

  • Physically fit and perform physical tasks carrying loads on stairs.

  • Familiarity with short-term rental standards is a bonus

  • Has a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, reliable, and hands-on All-Rounder to support the day-to-day operations of our managed vacation rentals. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety in their work, takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences, and is comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities—from cleaning and maintenance to transportation and logistics.

The role revolves primarily around property maintenance and transportation of staff, linens and garbage, but the All-Rounder must also fill in to assist with housekeeping as required or to guarantee full-time hours.

The candidate must be quite handy and efficient with tools, and physically fit for shovelling, lifting and cleaning. A valid Class 5 license or equivalent, with a clean driving record, is required, and a photo of both sides of your driver’s license must be provided in advance of a job offer to ensure proper vehicle insurance can be arranged.

The ideal candidate has a friend or partner interested in the Head Housekeeper position and shares the staff accommodation.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $25 – $30/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Experience & Communication

    • To the extent that it relates to a maintenance issue, respond promptly to guest messages forwarded to you

    • Handle guest issues or complaints with professionalism and care

  • Property Maintenance & Presentation

    • Report and follow up on repairs or maintenance needs; respond to requests from guests or owners via the Head Housekeeper, Owner, or Reservations Clerk; prioritize tasks and ensure appropriate approval to proceed has been attained from owners where necessary; get quotes where needed; liaise with hired trades.

    • Snow shovelling of decks and entryways; keep propane tanks and vents clear of snow.

    • Hot tub balancing, fresh fills, and minor hot tub maintenance; keep appropriate logs for hot tubs

    • Keep the transport van in good working order; tidy it up, plan cleaning, check oil, coordinate repairs, install tire chains as needed

    • Perform, or sometimes help coordinate, turnover cleaning and coordinate restocking of hot tub supplies and maintenance supplies

    • Sometimes help conduct cleaning inspections (Head Housekeeper) to ensure everything is ready for the next check-in

  • Logistics & Coordination

    • Manage laundry and garbage in some units (on-site or off-site); may involve runs to the landfill for items not considered household garbage

    • Coordinate with cleaners, trades people, and other service providers

    • Maintain inventory of supplies and restock as needed

  • Administrative Support

    • Ensure work orders are properly documented and filed for all billables

    • Help with occasional errands or purchases for the property

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in hospitality, vacation rentals, or property management is a plus

  • Pool course certification or experience working at a pool or spa an asset for hot tub work, but will train

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Tech-savvy enough to be comfortable using apps like Airbnb, Google Sheets, and messaging platforms or reservation platforms from your smartphone

  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently

  • Has a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented housekeepers to maintain the cleanliness and presentation of our vacation rentals. As the first impression for guests, your work plays a vital role in ensuring a comfortable and welcoming stay. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and understands the hospitality industry. Will train.

 

Pay

Hourly Rate: $20 – $24/hour

Piece rate by unit cleaned is an option. Experienced housekeepers used to the fast-paced environment of turnover cleans will likely find this more lucrative but may also encounter the odd long clean due to marginally inconvenient guests and must still produce the same quality results while spending more time to get achieve it. Compensation may vary based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

·        Clean and sanitize all areas of the property including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common spaces

·        Change linens, make beds, and manage laundry (on-site or off-site)

·        Restock amenities such as toiletries, coffee, and cleaning supplies

·        Ensure the property is guest-ready and staged according to standards

·        Report any damages, maintenance issues, or missing items

·        Follow cleaning checklists and safety protocols

·        Minor shovelling required.

·        Occasionally assist with deep cleaning or seasonal tasks

·        Laundry attendant responsibilities could be part of this position if the candidate lives in Cona Treetops

LAUNDRY ATTENDANT

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented laundry attendant who is organized and committed to making sure the housekeeping teams are prepped with all that they need for a smooth day of cleaning out in the field at our various vacation rentals. We expect you to maintain the cleanliness and presentation we are known for, ensuring no hair or stains are left on linens and they are folded and organized based on the upcoming unit turnovers. Must be able to work afternoon/evenings and weekends as our busiest turnover days are Thursday/Friday/Sunday/Monday. Could be a year-round position but will be quite reduced in the shoulder seasons.

May be combined with casual housekeeping for full-time work. As the first impression for guests, your work both as laundry attendant and housekeeper plays a vital role in ensuring a comfortable and welcoming stay. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and understands the hospitality industry.

Must have a reliable vehicle. Will train.

 

Pay

Hourly Rate: $20 – $24/hour

We’re a small, boutique and locally owned short-term rental brand based in the Comox Valley, offering curated stays focused on Central Vancouver Island, including Mount Washington Alpine Resort, and we are looking to grow. Our properties are known for their comfort, cleanliness, and seamless guest experience. As we scale, we’re looking for a tech-savvy, detail-oriented contractor to manage our listings across multiple platforms and ensure our backend systems are running smoothly.

Role Overview

This contract role is ideal for someone who understands the short-term rental ecosystem and thrives on systems, automation, and digital organization. You’ll be responsible for managing listings on Airbnb, VRBO, and other platforms, setting up and possibly maintaining our channel manager, and ensuring integrations with tools like Breezeway are functioning flawlessly. You’ll work closely with the owner to optimize visibility, prevent double bookings, and streamline operations.

The initial contract will be focused on clean up and set up of our listings, and involve more time and effort at the outset. However, the ideal candidate has time in their schedule to maintain an ongoing relationship with us going forward to be called upon whenever new properties are added or changes need to be made, and perform annual reviews, help with SOPs and training for new staff.

In the application process, please make clear from the outset what your availability is to take on the initial project and how you might grow with us as a company in the long-term.

Responsibilities

·        Create, update, and optimize listings on Airbnb, VRBO, and other platforms

·        Set up units in our channel manager (WebRezPro) to sync calendars, rates, and availability

·        Integrate and test Breezeway for automated task scheduling, cleaner coordination, and guest messaging including guidebooks for launch by Mid-November

·        Monitor sync health across platforms and troubleshoot errors or outages

·        Ensure listing content (photos, descriptions, amenities) is accurate and up to date and esthetically pleasing with a playful/creative tone

Qualifications

·        Experience managing short-term rental listings (Airbnb, VRBO, etc.)

·        Familiarity with channel managers and property management software (Knowledge of WebRezPro an asset)

·        Hands-on experience with Breezeway or similar task automation tools an asset

·        Strong organizational and communication skills

Pricing - Fair market value for a 2-bedroom furnished suite in the Comox Valley is around $2200-2800 and at the resort is $2600 up to $3800/month during the winter season. If deducted from your paycheck, the taxable benefit for rent provided is assessed based on fair market value, regardless of what you are actually paying, and we’ve picked a value on the lower end of the scale and subsidized from there, encouraging you to pay your rent directly and avoid taxes from having it deducted from you paycheck. A couple wanting to avoid a roommate in the second bedroom pays twice the private rate, but this is only available at Cona Treetops.

o   Extra: Fireplace and/or Sauna where applicable - $100 per month each per suite for propane for fireplaces or use of the sauna is extra and added to rent if you wish to have use of them. Conditions:

  • Rent is condition of employment. If you cannot perform your work duties, you will not have a place to live.

The rates below are based on rent payments made directly and do not include the extra bookkeeping and paperwork to deduct it off your paycheck and taxable benefits will be calculated by the “Based on $amount/month” below.

  • Signed rental agreement that includes things such as, but not limited to:

o   No parties

o   No overnight guests

o   No smoking/vaping/weed/drugs on premises

o If spots aren’t filled by regular staff, the remaining beds may be offered to other staff of Mount Washington Alpine Resort.
